Water Storage

Most water storage tanks are built with either of two materials, steel or concrete. Steel tanks are watertight, but must be drained and painted periodically to minimize corrosion. Concrete resists corrosion, but is not as watertight as steel. Used alone neither provides long-term, maintenance-free storage.

But Natgun combines the two materials to build a maintenance-free tank which provides decades of continuous service. Seventy-five years of tank building experience have taught us that a watertight steel diaphragm is critical for long term performance and reliability. We embed the steel diaphragm within a concrete wall, then prestress the tank with individual layers of wire and shotcrete. Wall and dome panels are precast on site to ensure quality, minimize construction time and eliminate the risk of damage during transit.

Natgun tanks range in size from 100,000 gallons to 20 million gallons or more. Minimum tank diameter is 35 feet. There is no established maximum tank diameter. Maximum water depth is dependent on the size of the particular tank: the greater the tank capacity, the higher the maximum water depth. The tank roof is typically either our standard prestressed concrete clear-span dome (in diameters up to 350 ft.) or a column-supported flat concrete roof.

Most Natgun tanks are low profile - wider than they are tall.

StandpipeStandpipe
When hydraulic conditions necessitate, Natgun can build a standpipe tank 85 feet tall or greater.
